What If Abundance Is a Feeling?

When we hear the word abundance, we often think about having more.

More money, opportunities, possessions, success.

But you can experience abundance in many other ways. It can feel like having enough energy, curiosity, love, creativity, connection, and inner space to engage with life.

Perhaps abundance isn’t always about what we have.

It may also be about how much of ourselves we are available to experience.

What if abundance is a feeling?
What if abundance is a feeling?

What Is Abundance in Mind, Body, Emotions and Spirit?

Abundance can show up differently across every part of our experience.

Mental abundance

Mental abundance can feel like curiosity.

You can explore an idea without immediately needing to reach a conclusion. There is enough mental space to ask questions, consider another perspective and admit that you don’t know something yet.

Children are wonderful examples of this. Their world is full of questions.

Why?

How?

What happens if…?

There is always something else to discover.

Mental abundance doesn’t mean thinking constantly or consuming more information. Sometimes the most abundant thing we can do for our mind is stop filling it.

Emotional abundance

Emotional abundance can feel like having enough capacity to experience our emotions without being completely consumed by them.

It can be the ability to feel joy, love, sadness, frustration, wonder and uncertainty while still having some space around the experience.

This doesn’t mean being positive all the time.

Abundance can include the capacity to feel what is actually here.

And sometimes that means recognising that you are emotionally depleted and need to rest.

Physical abundance

Physical abundance is often where we notice the importance of energy most clearly.

Having enough energy to move, create, connect, work, play and participate in life is a form of abundance.

Children understand this instinctively.

They play until they’re exhausted, eat when they’re hungry and fall asleep when they need to.

Adults can be remarkably bad at this.

We push through tiredness, override our signals and then wonder why we don’t feel inspired, creative or connected.

Sometimes abundance begins with a nap.

Or a good meal.

Or going outside.

Or doing less.

Having more energy doesn’t necessarily mean doing more with it. It can mean having enough energy actually to experience what you’re doing.

Spiritual abundance

Spiritual abundance can feel like connection, meaning, wonder and trust.

It can feel like life contains more than we can immediately understand.

You might experience it through nature, creativity, meditation, prayer, intuition, ritual or simply being present with another person.

It doesn’t have to be dramatic.

Sometimes spiritual abundance is simply being able to look at the world with a sense of curiosity and think:

There is more here than I realised.

When Seeking More Answers Takes Us Further Away From Ourselves

There is another kind of abundance worth considering, particularly if you use tarot, oracle cards, astrology, Human Design or psychic readings as part of your spiritual practice.

You can have too much information.

We can ask the cards one question, then another.

We can get a second reading because we didn’t like the first answer.

We can check an astrology forecast, ask a psychic, pull another oracle card and search for someone else’s interpretation.

Eventually, we may have an abundance of answers and very little clarity.

The problem isn’t tarot.

It isn’t oracle cards.

It isn’t psychic readings.

These can all be valuable tools for reflection and perspective.

The issue comes when we use them to outsource our own knowing continually.

There is a difference between asking:

“What does this bring up for me?”

and asking:

“Tell me what I should do.”

The first invites us inward.

The second can gradually train us to look outside ourselves whenever we feel uncertain.

And the more perspectives we collect, the harder it can become to hear our own.

More information isn’t always more clarity.

Remember this whenever you feel the urge to seek another answer.

Sometimes you don’t need another reading.

You need to sit with the one you already have.

You need to notice what you felt when you first saw the card.

You need to ask yourself what you already know but don’t particularly want to acknowledge.

You may need to have the conversation you’ve been avoiding.

You may need to give yourself time.

The inner work isn’t always exciting.

Sometimes it is simply staying with the question long enough for your own understanding to emerge.

Abundance Can Include 'Enoughness'

We often associate abundance with expansion, but it has another side.

Enoughness.

Enough information, opinions, stimulation, searching, energy. Enough time to be curious about what is already in front of you.

A child doesn’t need to own every book about why the sky is blue before they can wonder about it. They can look up and ask.

We could reclaim some of that curiosity without turning it into another thing we need to achieve.

Ask the question, explore and notice.

Rest when you need to.

Let yourself not know.

And trust that you don’t have to fill every space with an answer.

What Would Abundance Feel Like for You?

Rather than asking only, “What do I want more of?”, perhaps ask:

“What does feeling abundant actually feel like for me?”

Would it feel like having more energy, love, curiosity, creativity, connection, spaciousness? More trust in yourself? More willingness to explore without needing to know where you’re going?

The answer may have very little to do with acquiring something.

It is about creating enough space to experience what is already here.

And sometimes the most abundant choice you can make is to stop looking for another answer and listen to yourself.

Because there is a difference between having access to endless possibilities and having the inner space to experience them.
