4 elements in your astro chart

In western astrology there are 12 zodiac signs, 3 in each of the 4 elements of fire, earth, air and water. The signs are based on the earth's orbit around the sun which is why people are mostly aware of their 'sun sign'.

Each of the elements has a typical way of showing up:

Fire: excitement, impulse

Earth: security, practicality

Air: intellectual, orderly

Water: emotional, creative

Each of the sun signs has a typical energy:

Cardinal - starters and initiators

Fixed - steady and patient

Mutable - change and adaptation.

Fire: Aries - cardinal, Leo - fixed, Sagittarius - mutable

Earth: Taurus - fixed, Virgo - mutable, Capricorn - cardinal

Air: Gemini - mutable, Libra - cardinal, Aquarius - fixed

Water: Cancer - cardinal, Scorpio - fixed, Pisces - mutable

Your sun sign is your outward expression of life, while your moon sign is your internal, subconscious life. The sun takes 29-31 days to change signs, but the moon changes signs every 2.5 days. This adds layers to the astrological influence for you as an individual. While we can lump all outward sun signs into one box, the moon adds flavour and dimension. This is a very basic concept as there are many other influences (planets, houses, nodes and aspects) at play.

- Say you have a sun in cardinal fire and a moon in fixed water, you might have an internal dialogue that emotionally wants security while your outward expression wants to start lots of new things impulsively.

- Maybe you have double earth, say a cardinal moon and a fixed sun. This can mean that you have lots of projects to initiate and the patience to implement them.

-Maybe you have a mutable water sun sign and a fixed air moon. This can mean that you are dreamy and creative, go with the flow and have a set way of thinking.

There are many layers that make you uniquely you! Understanding and accepting who you are and how you be in the world makes for a more peaceful and loving world.
